About
My name is Meshack and my life of crime began in 6th grade. Selling candy was against the rules at school, but there was a demand and I took it upon myself to create the supply. Lucky for me, in the adult world this is called “business;” and even though outside of grade school it’s legal, I chose to shun the business suit in favor of an artist’s brush. (Ok, so everything I do is digital and I hardly use an actual brush. Relax, it’s symbolism.)
Maybe that was the beginning of my art career as well…
Intermission – A river divides a country. Over this river there spans a bridge. At one end of the bridge is erected a gallows and a courthouse whereby four judges meet and give sentence according to the following edict: ‘Whoever passes over this bridge from one side to the other, must first take an oath whence he comes and what business he is going about. If he swear true, let him pass, but if he tell a lie, he shall die for it upon the gallows, without any remission.’ The law and its severity being known, several persons have passed freely; for they were judged to have sworn the truth.
A man is brought before the judges, and being asked the present question, gives the following answer: ‘By the oath I have taken, I swear that I am going to die upon that gallows which stands yonder, and that this is my own business, and no other.’ The judges posit that if he is allowed to pass freely, then he swore a lie and ought to be hanged; but if he is hung, then by his oath he has sworn to the truth, and by the same law ought to go free.
The judges, after much deliberation, make their way down to the river and cast themselves in…
The thing about breaking the rules is: you have to learn to question them first. All great truths begin as blasphemies, and we could all perhaps use a little more blasphemy. Then again, not all blasphemies turn out to be great truths, so keep it in moderation folks.
This website exists to showcase my work and keep track of some of my projects. Whatever I do I try to remember that no matter where I go, there I am; and to paint with a brush of many colors.
